Headquarters Joint Operations Command Project 

In October 2001 the government announced that a new defence headquarters would be constructed between Queanbeyan and Bungendore on the Kings Highway corridor.

The HQJOC project creates a new integrated operational level joint headquarters which potentially for the first time provides the chief of the defence force with a more effective means of commanding the Australian Defence force, by bringing together a number of defence agencies under the roof of one facility.

Total Concept Projects underwent a vigorous tender process to be awarded the HQJOC project. The project required over sixty TCP staff members to work on the site involving extensive testing and design of a fully integrated audio visual system for 113 rooms.

The rooms were upgraded with the latest LCD and computer displays, with computer input capabilities on all screens. Each included a video conferencing unit and control systems designed to be linked directly using a fibreoptic network with the Department of Defence network.

The overall project was an extensive but rewarding undertaking for TCP as the entire scope of work required the complete off site build of systems and equipment, the onsite installation of all equipment and control systems as well as the onsite commissioning and testing all to be rolled out by the 15th of October 2008.
